Never Going to Dominick's Again

I found this on Yelp about the Dominick's in Roscoe Village. It was her first and last time going to Dominick's. She bought 2 gallons of milk and both were bad. I'm not surprised. She said they have poor selection and crappy prices. She's going to avoid this place like the plague.

Timothy on Yelp says: The "cafe" section of this place is comprised of a few half-broken chairs and tables, ALWAYS with trash and old food all over them. There is one small and overflowing trash in this area as well. There are flies everywhere: in the bathroom, by the trash, flying around the seating area, and in the store itself.

Bottom line, Dominick's is one of the biggest pits ever to be called a grocery store I've ever been in. Save yourself the frustration and the gross-out and just stay away.

Every once in awhile, I make the mistake of coming here, since it's next door to my bank. Convenient, right? But, nooooooooo. Cos no matter what time of day it is, I guarantee there's gonna be only one checkout lane open; the line is at least five people deep. So, yr five minute trip is gonna be at least a 25 minute one. Ten minutes into my wait, I usually say "Fuck it," and walk to the Jewel-Osco across the street. They have lots of cashiers. And a self-checkout.

Man, I really hate Dominick's.

Tom on Yelp says: Stay far away from Dominick's! Food is ridiculously, and possibly criminally, over priced. Some of their frozen food looked like it had thawed out and then was re-frozen and put back out.

Joan says: i hate dominicks. Their cash registers are never programed right. The customer is overcharged all the time. They have signs up on merchandise giving the sale price and you go to the check out counter and get charged the regular price. You have to stop every time and check and recheck your receipt for the right price. I'm tired of this treatment.

Here's what one employee had to say: I, unfortunatly, am employed by Dominicks. I have worked for the company for 12 years. With the recent events with the Union/Safeway negotiations and all it has made the workers all very bitter and downright evil. I just got transfered from the store in countryside. I have never seen a more miserable woman in all my life than the deli manager in that store. She has a miserable home life and she sucks as a manager. I think anyone who shops at Dominicks will find this attitude alot in the stores, especially getting closer to July. I personally hope we have jobs when its over but under new managers.

Here's what another blogger had to say: Dominick's is ridiculous. Their prices are high and I find the quality of their produce departments to be disappointing. They advertise "savings," but I don't think anyone who buys their produce there is getting a particularly good deal. .

The progress center for independent living demonstrated at a Dominick's grocery store, where a fence with a locked gate had kept grocery carts in and them out. Dominick's took that gate out, but a new store opened later with a locked access door.

For more than nine weeks Dominick's workers were on strike for affordable health care at work. A Boycott went into effect to help these workers and their families who needed support.

Dominick's is Evil

Dominick's is an evil food chain in Chicago. A while back they had a "fresh ideas" campaign. I was in their store and they asked me for a "fresh idea." They filmed me in the store and everything. Later I saw my idea on TV. They never bothered to tell me that they were planning on using it. I've since wrote them letters and called and they've yet to acknowledge that this was my idea. That's all I'm asking for. It's been several years. If it wasn't my idea I still wouldn't be this aggravated. I have since boycott their store and will search to find and post every item of their wrong doing.
